The Restaurant Row

The Theater District is contained within a thin strip of Manhattan, from 53rd to 42nd streets, between 6th and 8th Aves, called the Great White Way. There are approximately 36 theaters crammed into this small area of the city, more of which host world famous productions nightly. Its also popularly known by the name of Broadway. Though I have seen a few braodway shows, never really ventured out in the neighbourhood for fine dining. Last Saturday I got a chance to go out for lunch in the Restaurant Row and was really impressed.

Restaurant Row is the popular nickname for a section of 46th Street. Located in Midtown Manhattan between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, the name is derived from the numerous small restaurants that line the street.The street itself has a small neighborhood feel despite its proximity to Times Square and the Broadway theatres. I always thought that midtown was too commercial and bustling and could never imagine that there was such a cute little neighbourhood, green and cozy with the same feel as the village.

We walked along 9th avenue from Columbus Circle till the 46th street which was the restaurant row. All along the avenue, my friend kept telling me about the must goto places. There were nice little restaurants serving all varieties of cuisines. There were cozy wine and cheese places. Going more down there were some real hookah places too. Though we had ventured out in the afternoon, the place must look awesome in the evenings. I am now waiting for summer evenings to explore more food in this area. Cant wait!
